Patient Welfare

The Auxiliary’s raison d’être is to enhance the lives of our patients and residents. In addition to fundraising, we offer entertainment for our patients, residents and staff at holiday times.

At Easter/Passover, Rosh Hashana and Christmas/Chanukah, a group of Auxiliary members go to each floor of Mount Sinai Hospital in order to visit all the patients and residents. We serenade them with musical accompaniment and songs in several languages.

It is uplifting and heartwarming for us as well as for the families, the caregivers and even the staff on the floors. The greatest reward is to see a patient or resident with a big smile, a foot tapping to the beat or even singing along. It is always a wonderful event which brings pleasure to all and very often a tear of joy to the eye.
